Which is the Best Water Distiller? - Counter Top Water Distillers Top the List
My friends often ask me which is the best water distiller when they are looking to provide their families with the safest possible water to drink. It's a fair question seeing as though there are hundreds of water distillers and water filtration systems out there. But do they all work with the same quality and leave water completely void of harmful contaminants once tap water has passed through them? I believe they do not. There are many methods in which to purify tap water, and some methods do a better job than others. Most water distillers have their pluses and their minuses when it comes to purifying water for drinking, cooking or any other use where water comes in contact with human beings.
Which is the best water distiller and how does it work?
Different types of water filtration systems work in different ways. There are many ways that water purifiers remove harmful contaminants from water. Probably the type of water purification system that has been around the longest is water distillation. The method is relatively simple and doesn't require a great deal of complicated equipment to accomplish water purification. By heating water to a boil, it becomes vapor and is passed through a condenser where cold water is waiting to cool the vapor and return it to liquid water. The idea is that contaminants originally in the water were not able to transform into vapor and stays behind, leaving pure, uncontaminated water.
However, like all water purification systems, water distillers have some drawbacks. Although most particles and contaminants are removed through water distillers, some contaminants such as herbicides boil at lower temperatures than water and are able to transform into vapor when heated. This means that water distillers may not be able to remove all contaminants from the water. Plus, they require a lot of energy to heat the water.
As far as which is the best water distiller, I would recommend a counter top model. You can use your water distiller to purify a large batch of water at a time and store it in bottles that aren't made of plastics that will put toxins right back in the water. Counter top water distillers are easily stored near the sink on the counter where they can go to work removing much of the contaminants found in tap water that can be harmful to your health and your family's well being.
